The Baton Rouge River Center is open for business with an expanded Exhibition Hall and additional meeting space
(Baton Rouge, LA) The Baton Rouge Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (BRACVB) and the City of Baton Rouge announced the completion of the Baton Rouge River Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony, Thursday, December 9th. Paul Arrigo, BRACVB President and CEO and East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Bobby Simpson spoke at the ceremony. Mayor-President Bobby Simpson led several other community leaders in the ribbon cutting.
“The newly renovated Baton Rouge River Center will be a cornerstone to the success of downtown and our entire Parish," said Mayor-President Bobby Simpson, “Many community leaders were dedicated to ensuring this would be a first class facility Baton Rouge could be proud of. This is truly a day to celebrate."
“We are very excited and proud of this new facility," said Paul Arrigo. “I have no doubt that the Baton Rouge River Center along with the many fine facilities throughout this city will succeed in making Baton Rouge the ideal meeting destination for groups of all sizes."
The expansion of the former Centroplex leaves the Baton Rouge River Center with 70,000 square feet of exhibition space, 125,000 square feet of floor space, 13 breakout rooms, theater-style seating for 8,000, 924-person capacity for classroom seating, banquet seating for 5,600, and an on site full-service catering staff. The design of the building boasts modernized amenities and offers a one of a kind view of the Mississippi River and downtown Baton Rouge.
"We are thrilled to serve as the architects for this new "living room" for the center of Baton Rouge on the Mississippi River," stated Raymond “Skipper" Post, Post Architects, “Our design effort was to create a functional public building which will be an open, inviting series of spaces connected visually and physically to the riverfront and to downtown Baton Rouge with all of the existing and new venues -- a building which will be memorable to the citizens of the area and visitors alike."
“The expansion of the Baton Rouge River Center is the culmination of many years of hard work and forethought of our city leaders and past and present BRACVB board members. This visionary endeavor is something that the entire community supported and we are dedicated to our mission of marketing this facility to meeting planners worldwide," stated Arrigo.
